The diverse mix of homes in the Ocean City real estate market show off the variety of different architectural styles of the houses and condo buildings.
Condominiums are the most common type of home you'll find in Ocean City, with over a thousand of condo buildings to choose from. Ocean City condos for sale are extremely popular for home buyers looking for a second home or a vacation home. Most condos are within a 10-minute walk from the beach and many buildings are located directly in front of the beach! In order to make your search for Ocean City condos easier, Condominium Realty, LTD. has categorized the condos by the following building locations:
Oceanfront: Condo buildings that are located directly on the oceanfront and right in front of the beach. Due to their ideal location and prime ocean views, these condos are often the most desirable and most expensive.
Ocean Block: Buildings that are situated on the ocean side of the Coastal Hwy, but aren't directly in front of the ocean. Even though they're not right on the beach, these condos are still only a few steps away and you don't have to cross Coastal Highway to get there. Some oceanview condos also have views of both the ocean and the bay.
Canal & Bayfront: At the opposite side from the oceanfront buildings are waterfront condos and townhomes of a different type. These homes sit direct bayfront or on canals and many have boat slips assigned to them.
Bayside Block: These condo buildings are on the west side of Coastal Hwy, but are not located directly on the bay or a canal. Many of these properties are still close to the beach and these condos are also generally less expensive.
The selection of townhomes and single-family homes in Ocean City is also strong, with houses of all many different sizes and architectural styles dispersed throughout town.

Brief history of Ocean City, MD
In the mid-1800s, Ocean City was a small fishing village that was accessible by ferry and stage coach. By the late 1800s, tourists could arrive by railroad. In 1933, a severe storm (some say hurricane) created the inlet that now separates Ocean City from Assateague Island. With this new access from the bay to the ocean, Ocean City was unknowingly on its way to becoming on the the top beach cities on the East coast, a sport fishing destination and eventually the White Marlin Capital of the World.
