Ocean City homes for sale are located in many different areas throughout the peninsula.  Locations such as Direct Oceanfront, Indirect Ocean View, Ocean Block, Bayside Interior, and Canal & Bayfront offer many different styles of condominiums, townhomes and single-family homes at various price points. The diverse mix of homes in the Ocean City real estate market show off the variety of different architectural styles of the houses and condo buildings.

Ocean City Beachfront HomesCondominiums are the most common type of home you'll find in Ocean City, with over a thousand of condo buildings to choose from. Ocean City condos for sale are extremely popular for home buyers looking for a second home or a vacation home. Most condos are within a 10-minute walk from the beach and many buildings are located directly in front of the beach! In order to make your search for Ocean City condos easier, Condominium Realty, LTD. has categorized the condos by the following building locations:

Oceanfront: Condo buildings that are located directly on the oceanfront and right in front of the beach. Due to their ideal location and prime ocean views, these condos are often the most desirable and most expensive.

Ocean Block: Buildings that are situated on the ocean side of the Coastal Hwy, but aren't directly in front of the ocean. Even though they're not right on the beach, these condos are still only a few steps away and you don't have to cross Coastal Highway to get there. Some oceanview condos also have views of both the ocean and the bay.

Ocean City canal and bayfront homesCanal & Bayfront: At the opposite side from the oceanfront buildings are waterfront condos and townhomes of a different type. These homes sit direct bayfront or on canals and many have boat slips assigned to them.

Bayside Block: These condo buildings are on the west side of Coastal Hwy, but are not located directly on the bay or a canal. Many of these properties are still close to the beach and these condos are also generally less expensive.

The selection of townhomes and single-family homes in Ocean City is also strong, with houses of all many different sizes and architectural styles dispersed throughout town.

Ocean City beach and boardwalkAs one of the premier vacation hot spots in the entire eastern part of the United States, Ocean City has a lot to offer both part-time and full-time residents. The beach stretches about nine miles long and has some of the softest sand you'll find anywhere in the country. In addition to relaxing in the sand for hours and watching the waves crash against the shore, you can grab a bite to eat or have a drink at a number of beachfront establishments. Ocean City is particularly famous for its delectable seafood.

The boardwalk is another well-known amenity in Ocean City that attracts thousands of residents and visitors daily. Originally called Atlantic Avenue, this famous wooden boardwalk is home to an abundance of food vendors, retail shops, arcades, and amusement parks such as Jolly Roger Amusements and Trimper's Rides.

The boating and fishing scene in Ocean City is among the best that you'll find in any town along the Atlantic Ocean. You can drop your line off the Route 50 Bridge or Ocean City Pier or hop on a boat and search for tuna and mahi-mahi in the canyons. If you're lucky, you might even catch a White Marlin, as Ocean city is known as the White Marlin Capital of the World!

You can go paddle boarding or kayaking through the bay and canals, golf at one of the 15+ courses in the area, or walk or cycle at Nortside Park.  If you want to stay active on the beach, the waves are ideal for surfing and body boarding and during the Summer there's even a designated surf beach in Ocean City. There are also plenty of opportunities to start up a game of beach volleyball along the nine miles of beach.

Brief history of Ocean City, MD

In the mid-1800s, Ocean City was a small fishing village that was accessible by ferry and stage coach. By the late 1800s, tourists could arrive by railroad. In 1933, a severe storm (some say hurricane) created the inlet that now separates Ocean City from Assateague Island. With this new access from the bay to the ocean, Ocean City was unknowingly on its way to becoming on the the top beach cities on the East coast, a sport fishing destination and eventually the White Marlin Capital of the World.
