The vast range of house styles in Ocean City means there is truly an option for every type of buyer that's looking for a single-family home in the area, as opposed to one of the condos or townhomes. While single-family homes are dispersed throughout Ocean City, the majority are on the west side of the Coastal Hwy (otherwise known as the bayside). These houses vary from cozy ranch-style houses to towering multi-story homes.
There are some extremely attractive newer construction homes (built in the late 1990s onward) and modernized homes located right on the bayside waterfront. You can even find a canal or bayfront house for sale that has its own boat dock! Bayside waterfront homes are naturally more expensive than bayside interior homes that generally are a couple of blocks from the water, with the larger two-and-three-story waterfront homes exceeding $1,000,000. However, you can find waterfront homes on a canal in Ocean City for under $500,000.
There's also a smaller selection of beautiful houses on east side of the Coast Hwy (ocean side), some of which are lovely cottage-style homes. These houses are highly sought after—especially the direct oceanfront houses—and don't hit the market quite as often. Having an extremely close proximity to the ocean makes for that perfect vacation home you've always dreamed of. Houses near the north end of Ocean City tend to have a quieter atmosphere, while houses in the southern portion of town are closer to the boardwalk area.
